In 2017, Ken and Anita Corsini founded Roc.Star Kids after their son, Rocco, bravely battled Burkitt’s Lymphoma. Thankfully, Rocco won his fight. But walking through cancer with their son changed their lives—and opened their eyes to the reality faced by families who don’t have the resources, treatment, or support they need.
That experience became the foundation of Roc.Star Kids’ mission: to support children, families, doctors, and organizations on the front lines of the fight against cancer.
Today, that mission has taken Roc.Star Kids to Belize.
Watch: Why We’re Raising Funds for BCCD
One Small Center. An Entire Country Depending on It.
Founded in 2008, the Belize Cancer Center Dangriga (BCCD) was the first facility in Belize dedicated to oncology and hematology care. Before BCCD opened, patients in Belize who needed cancer treatment had to travel abroad for care—or go without it.
Today, BCCD serves children, adolescents, and adults from all six districts of Belize. Some patients travel nearly 130 miles to reach the Center, while families in remote villages can face journeys of up to two days over difficult roads.
And BCCD operates on an ability-to-pay model: no patient is denied care simply because they cannot afford it. For families who are truly indigent, the Center absorbs the cost of treatment and related services.
The Need Is Real
The numbers tell only part of the story.
From 2019–2025, BCCD recorded more than 8,500 pediatric cancer visits, averaging approximately 1,200 cancer visits each year. The Center also provides care for children with sickle cell disease and other hematological conditions.
Today, children remain actively dependent on the Center for treatment and monitoring—including 4 pediatric cancer patients currently undergoing treatment and 19 additional pediatric cancer patients under periodic surveillance.
Without BCCD, Belizean families facing cancer have remarkably few options: travel abroad if they can afford it, seek traditional or faith-based alternatives, or forgo treatment altogether.
Help Us Strengthen the Center
Roc.Star Kids is now working directly with BCCD to support families who simply don’t have the resources to continue treatment.
But the Center itself urgently needs help.
Many of its medical systems and pieces of equipment are outdated or need replacement. The facility also requires improvements to make it safer, more functional, and better equipped to serve the growing needs of patients throughout Belize.
Your support will help BCCD modernize essential equipment and improve patient safety. Help us reach our goal of $25,000 to fund these critical needs:
- Replace critical medical equipment, including infusion pumps, EKG equipment, exam tables, infusion chairs, and vital-sign monitors
- Upgrade the chemotherapy preparation safety system
- Improve laboratory and diagnostic capabilities
- Strengthen emergency preparedness and patient safety
- Improve medication preparation and storage
- Address building repairs, weather resilience, and flooding concerns
- Upgrade space for family consultations and tele-oncology services
A Small Investment. A National Impact.
For more than 16 years, the Belize Cancer Center Dangriga has served as a cornerstone of cancer care for an entire country.
This isn’t about building something new. It’s about strengthening the one place already doing the work.
With your help, Roc.Star Kids can help BCCD modernize essential equipment, improve patient safety, and continue providing life-saving cancer care to children and families who otherwise may have nowhere to turn.
Every dollar helps. Every patient matters. Every child deserves a chance.
